Round Pond provides primitive campsites for paddlers on the 7โ10 day canoe journey from Chamberlain Lake to Allagash Village.

Round Pond in Somerset County provides primitive access to one of Maine’s many remote ponds in the North Woods. Maine has 6,000 lakes and ponds โ more than any other state east of Minnesota. Many are still managed for wild (not stocked) brook trout โ Salvelinus fontinalis โ the iconic native char of the eastern wilderness. Maine is the last stronghold of wild brook trout populations in the eastern United States.
