🏆🏆🏆🏆 Historic Springs — One of Nebraska’s oldest parks (1926) — natural springs and Depression-era CCC structures in the Sandhills

Victoria Springs State Recreation Area is one of Nebraska’s oldest parks — established in 1926 around natural springs that flow from the Ogallala Aquifer. The park features beautiful stone structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the 1930s Great Depression — some of the best-preserved CCC architecture in Nebraska. The Ogallala Aquifer beneath the Sandhills holds an estimated 3 billion acre-feet of water — one of the largest underground freshwater reserves in the world. Victoria Springs sits at the southern edge of the Sandhills, where grassland meets the central Platte River valley.
