Willow Creek State Recreation Area provides access to one of the Mat-Su Valley’s most productive salmon streams. Willow Creek supports runs of all five Pacific salmon species, plus resident rainbow trout and Dolly Varden — making it one of the most diverse fishing opportunities in Southcentral Alaska. The park has multiple campgrounds, picnic areas, and river access points along Hatcher Pass Road, with views of the Talkeetna Mountains.

Willow Creek State Recreation Area in the Mat-Su Valley is one of Alaska’s most popular salmon fishing destinations — king salmon up to 50+ pounds run up Willow Creek each summer, creating a fishing frenzy. The area provides camping along the creek between Anchorage and Denali. The Iditarod Sled Dog Race officially restarts from Willow.
