❓ Fishing in Delaware — FAQ
Do you need a fishing license in Delaware state parks?
Yes, with one exception. Delaware DNREC: drivers of a vehicle with a valid Delaware surf fishing vehicle permit are exempt from the fishing license "as long as the vehicle is located on a designated Delaware State Park surf fishing area," but "Other occupants of that vehicle are required to have a Resident or Non-Resident fishing license if they are fishing." Everyone else 16 and older needs a Delaware fishing license ($8.50 for residents, $20 for non-residents, plus a $2.50 agent fee). (Delaware DNREC, as of September 2026)
Are there free fishing days in Delaware?
Yes — June 6-7, 2026. On free fishing days no license is required; confirm the dates with the official Delaware agency before your trip.
