Ahern State Park — 128 acres on the western shore of Lake Winnipesaukee in Laconia — provides undeveloped shoreline access on New Hampshire’s largest and most iconic lake. The park preserves mixed hardwood-conifer forest of sugar maple, red oak, white pine, and Eastern hemlock. Common loons — New Hampshire’s state bird equivalent in popularity — nest on the lake.
