Things to Do
The Berkeley Marina is part of the City of Berkeley waterfront, which counts about 7 miles of trails and 100 acres of parks and open space. In the 90-acre park at the waterfront, a 1.25-mile accessible loop of the Bay Trail runs past open fields that are a favorite for kite flying, a large off-leash dog area, and picnic tables with barbecue grills. You can also visit the Shorebird Nature Center with its bay aquarium, let kids build forts and ride the zip line at the Adventure Playground, or book a fishing or cruising charter from the marina. Best Time to Visit
The waterfront park is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Shorebird Nature Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Adventure Playground on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; it stays closed when it rains throughout the day. Visitor Tips
The Berkeley Marina is part of the City of Berkeley waterfront, not a California state park, so state day-use fees, state park passes and ReserveCalifornia do not apply. The waterfront has about 7 miles of trails, 100 acres of parks and open space including César Chávez Park, and a nature center. Boaters can tie up with a free day pass for park use and dining.
