The park sits directly on Lake Hartwell, and its lakeside campground is run by a private operator under the name Unhitched Lake Hartwell. The operator lists 86 sites, from full-hookup patio sites and tent sites to studio cabins, five small deluxe cabins and two-bedroom cottages, most of them on the water or with a lake view. Activities it names are swimming, kayaking, fishing and biking trails, plus volleyball and horseshoes; kayak and paddleboard rentals are seasonal and depend on availability (as of October 2026).

The campground is open all year, and the operator calls every season camping season. If you are counting on a kayak or paddleboard rental or a community event, ask the campground first, because those are offered seasonally.
Visitor Tips
Hartwell Lakeside Park has been run by the City of Hartwell since April 2020, not by Georgia State Parks, so the Georgia ParkPass does not apply. The city sets any fees, and the lakeside campground is run by a private operator that takes bookings directly.
