Visitor Tips
A $10 daily ParkPass is required for vehicle entry at most Georgia state parks, or frequent visitors can purchase an annual ParkPass for $70. Georgia is unique for its excellent, fully-equipped “glamping” options, yurts, and comfortable park lodges (like at Amicalola Falls and Unicoi). Advance reservations are highly recommended for weekend camping and lodging. When visiting swamp or coastal parks in warmer months, heavy-duty insect repellent is absolutely essential.

Wildlife & Nature
Kolomoki Mounds SP — 1,293 acres — preserves the oldest and largest Woodland period mound site in the Southeast. The 57-foot temple mound and six surrounding mounds were built between 350-750 AD. The park’s museum, lake, and pine forest support white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and alligators. Gopher tortoises burrow in the sandy soil.
