Lake Darling SP — 1,417 acres — features a CCC-built stone dam and shelters (1930s) that are architectural masterpieces. The park’s lake, oak forest, and restored prairie support bald eagles, wild turkeys, and white-tailed deer. The park is named for “Ding” Darling, the Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist and father of the Federal Duck Stamp Program.
