One of the main attractions of Quail Hollow State Park is the Quail Hollow Manor, a historic home that was built in the 19th century and is now open to the public for tours.

It even has a Nature Center that offers educational programs and exhibits about the park’s natural and cultural history.

Quail Hollow Manor at Quail Hollow State Park
Built in the 19th century, Quail Hollow Manor is a historic home located within the park. Originally it was constructed by the H.B. Stewart family. However, it was later purchased by Harry F. Firestone, the founder of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company.
Today, the Quail Hollow Manor is open to the public for tours. Visitors can explore the elegant interior of the home, which features a variety of period furnishings, artwork, and decor.
The tour also provides a glimpse into the lives of the families who lived in the home and offers a fascinating look at Ohio’s history and culture.

In addition to the manor, the park also includes several outbuildings, including a barn, carriage house, and ice house, which have been restored and are open to the public for exploration.
Fishing at Quail Hollow State Park
Fishing is permitted at the 2-acre Shady Lane Pond. Ohio fishing regulations apply, and anglers 16 and older need a valid Ohio fishing license.
Hiking at Quail Hollow State Park
Like with many state and national parks or forests, Quail Hollow State Park is a very popular destination for hiking.
Overall it has more than 8 miles of trails that wind their way through a mix of forests, fields, and wetlands.
As well as providing a good work out, these trails offer excellent opportunities for photography and wildlife watching.
Before heading out on the trails it is worth being prepared. This includes wearing a hat and comfortable footwear, as well as plenty of sunscreen and mosquito spray.
It is also worth carrying lots of water and some food with you.
Picnicking at Quail Hollow State Park
The lawns and gardens around the 40-room historic manor make a peaceful spot to spread a blanket. Since 2016 the Stark County park system has run the manor home and the surrounding land, so contact Stark Parks about tours, group camping and rentals of the manor.
Birding at Quail Hollow State Park
Home to over 130 species, Quail Hollow State Park is one of the best places in Ohio for birdwatching.
Visitors can walk the park’s trails and keep an eye out for raptors, songbirds, and waterfowl.
The park’s wetlands and streams also provide habitats for a variety of water birds, including great blue herons and wood ducks.
Pets
Pets are welcome at Quail Hollow State Park. Ohio State Parks rules apply: keep your pet on a hand-held leash no longer than 6 feet and under control at all times, except inside a designated dog exercise area, and carry proof of its rabies vaccination (Ohio DNR state park rules, as of October 2026).
Camping
Primitive group camping is available on a first come first served basis at Quail Hollow State Park. However, you will need to pack in and pack out all of your belongings.
If you would prefer to stay at a campground with a few more accommodation options and amenities, there are several in the surrounding area you can choose from.
These include the Clay’s Park Resort, Berlin RV Park & Campground, Clearwater Park and Woodside Lake Park.
All of these campgrounds are within easy reach of the park and feature tent and RV sites that come with hook ups for electricity and water, as well as well-furnished cabins.
Amenities you can use, depending on which one you choose, may include a swimming pool, children’s playground, a camp store and jacuzzi.
