Pipestem Resort SP — 4,023 acres on the rim of the Bluestone River Gorge (1,000 ft deep). An aerial tramway descends to the Mountain Creek Lodge at the canyon floor — the only resort in America accessible solely by aerial tram. The park’s gorge, hardwood forest, and mountain terrain support black bears, white-tailed deer, and wild turkeys. Named for the pipestem (meadow rue) plant that Native Americans used to make pipe stems.
