The Stone Door Trail is a 0.9-mile hiking trail in Savage Gulf State Park, Grundy County, Tennessee. Rated easy, it starts beside the Stone Door Ranger Station near Beersheba Springs and passes the Laurel Gulf Overlook on its way to the Great Stone Door, a narrow passage through the cliff line into Big Creek Gulf. Until 2022 the area belonged to South Cumberland State Park.

Location & Getting There
Park at the Stone Door Ranger Station, 1183 Stone Door Rd, Beersheba Springs. The ranger station has a small museum, a gift shop, a picnic area and restrooms. The park’s coordinates are 35.4427, -85.6525.
Through the Stone Door
From the top of the Stone Door, the Big Creek Gulf Trail (4 miles, hard) descends steeply through the passage to the gorge floor; the park recommends it as an overnight trip. The Big Creek Rim Trail (3.2 miles, moderate) stays on the rim. Behind the ranger station, the Laurel Falls Loop (0.3 mile) leads to 25-foot Laurel Falls.
