What makes Tishomingo geologically unique?
Tishomingo is the only place in Mississippi where the Appalachian foothills extend into the state. It features Bear Creek Canyon—Mississippi’s only rock canyon—with multi-colored sandstone outcrops, rocky formations, and a swinging pedestrian bridge. This geology is found nowhere else in the state!
Is the park open in February 2026?
Currently NO. The park is CLOSED indefinitely due to damage from Winter Storm Fern (ice storm starting Jan 26, 2026). There are widespread power/water outages and downed trees creating hazardous conditions. Check MDWFP daily for reopening updates.

Tishomingo offers 7 furnished cabins. Reservations are recommended for both cabins and campsites. The park also has 62 developed RV sites and 15 primitive tent sites.
