The park features 4,444 acres encompassing the NJ Botanical Garden at Skylands (96 acres of specialty gardens), the Tudor Revival Skylands Manor designed by John Russell Pope (1920s), Ringwood Manor National Historic Landmark (18th-century ironworks estate), 74-acre spring-fed Shepherd Lake with swimming and boating, an extensive hiking and mountain biking trail network, and centuries of American industrial heritage.
Ringwood is three destinations in one park — the NJ Botanical Garden at Skylands features 96 acres of curated gardens surrounding a 1920s Tudor Revival manor. Ringwood Manor preserves the estate of ironmasters Peter Cooper and Abram Hewitt, whose ironworks supplied the Continental Army during the Revolution.
Shepherd Lake is a 74-acre spring-fed gem offering swimming with lifeguards (Memorial Day–Labor Day), fishing, and electric-motor boating.
