Sprewell Bluff State Park is located near Thomaston, Georgia. The park’s coordinates are 32.8542, -84.4804.
Things to Do
Sprewell Bluff lies on the Flint River, which Upson County notes is one of only 40 rivers in the U.S. that run undammed for more than 200 miles. Its rocky shoals are home to the shoal bass, Georgia’s official riverine sport fish, and let you wade the river with ease, which makes this stretch good for fly fishing. A boat ramp in the day-use area gives paddlers river access, and more than 12 miles of trails lead along the riverbank and up the bluffs, where you may spot tanagers, warblers, osprey and bald eagles. The River Ridge Campground has cabins, RV sites and primitive campsites, and the Trading Post sells supplies and souvenirs (as of October 2026). More on the county’s park page.
Best Time to Visit
The park is open from 7 a.m. to dark. The Trading Post, which has information on the park and on events held throughout the year, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Visitor Tips
Sprewell Bluff is an Upson County park, not a state park, so the Georgia ParkPass does not apply. Entry is $10 per vehicle; an annual pass valid only at Sprewell Bluff costs $40 for Upson County residents and $50 for everyone else (as of October 2026).
