White sand beach and turquoise waters at Honeymoon Island State Park Florida
Four miles of pristine Gulf Coast beach along Florida’s barrier islands

White sand stretches for four unspoiled miles along the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Ospreys circle overhead. Dolphins cruise just offshore. And yes—your dog is welcome. This is Honeymoon Island State Park, one of Florida’s most beloved barrier island destinations and a rare state park that welcomes four-legged family members on a designated pet beach.

Connected to the mainland by causeway and serving as the gateway to pristine Caladesi Island (accessible only by ferry or kayak), Honeymoon Island offers the best of Florida’s Gulf Coast: soft sand, calm swimming waters, excellent shelling, and native habitats teeming with shorebirds and marine life. With over a million visitors annually, it’s one of Florida’s most popular state parks—yet still feels like an escape.
