Trinidad Lake State Park is a Colorado State Park located in Trinidad, and is approximately 88 miles south of the city of Pueblo. The park offers archery, horseback riding, biking, and fishing with great views of Trinidad Lake.

Boating At Trinidad Lake State Park
Trinidad Lake State Park has both a dedicated boating ramp as well as seasonal docks, making it easier than ever for boaters to enjoy the beautiful waters of Trinidad Lake.
Boats of all shapes and sizes are allowed on the lake, including motor boats and self-propelled craft or trawling boats.
Jet skiing, water skiing, paddleboarding, and sailboarding are all allowed on the lake, meaning there are plenty of water activities for everyone.
The lake opens in the spring and summer. It is worth noting that all boats must be inspected for aquatic nuisance species (ANS) prior to launch.

Fishing At Trinidad Lake State Park
Fishing in Trinidad Lake is open for anglers both on the shore or in watercraft of any kind. Keep in mind that all local and state licensing applies while fishing within the park.
Trinidad Lake is home to plenty of warm and cold-water fish, including rainbow and brown trout, channel catfish, walleye, largemouth bass, and more.

Hiking At Trinidad Lake State Park
Trinidad Lake State Park has over 10 miles of trails for visitors to explore, with paths that show off the natural geography of the area like you’ve never seen before.
Trails lead to peak fishing areas, as well as gorgeous overlooks that will take your breath away.
Here are some of the trails at Trinidad Lake State Park:
- Levsa Canyon Self-Guided Trail – This hiking loop begins at the campground area, and takes hikers through various kinds of terrain. Hikers can enjoy views of the mountains, wooded coves, and of course, Trinidad Lake. Length: 1 mile Degree of Difficulty: moderate
- Reilly Canyon Trail – This longer trail leads west toward Rielly Canyon. Hikers can check out the historic town of Cokedale. Dedicated hikers can connect this trail with the South Shore Trail that leads to Long’s Canyon for a rarely enjoyed view of the park. Length: 4 miles Degree of Difficulty: moderate
- Sunset Point Trail – This ADA-accessible trail features paved walkways and a gorgeous view of the South Shore of the lake. The picnic area at the end of the trail is perfect for a late lunch and shows off the beauty of Trinidad Lake. Length: 1 miles Degree of Difficulty: easy
Biking At Trinidad Lake State Park
Biking is welcome at Trinidad Lake State Park. The 10 miles of trails are perfect for both mountain biking and street biking, and the roads surrounding the park also offer plenty of biking access.
The park is also open for biking during the winter months, giving cold weather fans a unique view of the park while they bike through nature.

Archery At Trinidad Lake State Park
This free-use archery range is open from sunrise to sunset, and has six archery lanes, with five installed target butts, as well as one lane dedicated to 3-D targets.
The archery range also has a picnic area, a self-service station, and restrooms, making it perfect for a whole day of archery fun.
Keep in mind that broadhead arrows, crossbows, and firearms are prohibited on the course, and any archers under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Pets are not allowed on the course.
Horseback Riding At Trinidad Lake State Park
Equestrian enthusiasts will be happy to hear that horseback riding is allowed within Trinidad Lake State Park.
Horses are allowed on the South Shore Trail of the lake. Keep in mind that there are no overnight facilities for horses within the park, and that parking for horse trailers may be limited depending on the season and current visitor count within the park.
Pets At Trinidad Lake State Park
Dogs are welcome at Trinidad Lake State Park, so long as they are kept on a six-foot or shorter leash at all times and their waste is properly disposed of.
Keep in mind that dogs are not allowed near the archery range for safety reasons.
Horses are allowed on the South Shore Trail in the park, as well as in the parking areas when transferring to and from a horse trailer.
Camping At Trinidad Lake State Park
Trinidad Lake State Park has 73 individual camping sites spread across two campgrounds. These camping sites include RV hookup sites, as well as more traditional camping locations.
Winter camping opportunities, as well as accessible camping and group camping facilities, are all available within the park, though it is worth noting that all campsites must be reserved in advance through the park website.
