Park Lodges & Fees

Kentucky’s state parks are free to enter — no gate fees or vehicle passes required. What makes Kentucky unique are its 17 resort parks with full-service lodges, offering hotel rooms, dining, golf, pools, and meeting facilities. Lodge rates vary by season and park. Discounts include: Military (up to 15% off lodging), Senior (10% off, age 62+), AAA (10% off), Kentucky Resident (up to 10% off), and Commonwealth Connection (discounted rates for public employees, Nov–Mar). The Kentucky Passport Challenge app lets visitors check in at all 44 parks to earn digital badges.

Parks by Region

Eastern Kentucky — Mountains

Natural Bridge State Resort Park showcases a massive sandstone arch spanning 78 feet long and 65 feet high, accessible by trail or sky lift. It’s the gateway to the Red River Gorge geological area. Carter Caves State Resort Park features over 20 caves including Cascade Cave with an underground waterfall. Breaks Interstate Park (shared with Virginia) is the “Grand Canyon of the South” — a 5-mile-long, 1,600-foot-deep canyon carved by the Russell Fork River. Jenny Wiley State Resort Park offers mountain lake kayaking and lodge accommodations.

Bluegrass Region

Fort Boonesborough State Park recreates Daniel Boone’s 1775 frontier fort along the Kentucky River. My Old Kentucky Home State Park preserves Federal Hill, the mansion that inspired Stephen Foster’s beloved song. White Hall State Historic Site is the home of Cassius M. Clay, the “Lion of White Hall,” an emancipationist and ambassador.

Western Kentucky

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park sits on Kentucky Lake — one of the largest man-made lakes in the eastern U.S. — offering fishing, boating, golf, and a full-service lodge. Lake Barkley State Resort Park mirrors Kentucky Dam across the Land Between the Lakes region. Columbus-Belmont State Park preserves a Civil War battlefield on the Mississippi River bluffs.

Central Kentucky — Cave Country

Mammoth Cave National Park (federal) anchors the region, but nearby state parks complement it perfectly. Green River Lake State Park provides excellent largemouth bass fishing. Lake Cumberland State Resort Park offers resort lodge accommodations on a 63,000-acre lake with 1,255 miles of shoreline.
